Level 4 Probate Law

The Level 4 Diploma in probate law and Practice is the first stage of academic training to become a Licensed practitioner. The qualification is made up of a total of 5 units, this is designed to give prospective licensed practitioner a good grounding in the core areas of law and probate practice. This Level 4 Diploma is awarded by SQA, the national awarding organisation. No previous experience, knowledge, skills or understanding of probate procedure and practice are required and it is not necessary to be employed in the legal sector role to study for this qualification.
What units do I need to study?
To achieve the Level 4 Diploma in probate law and practice you must study the Mandatory Units of:
• The English Legal System
• Law of Contract
• Land Law
• Law of Wills, Succession and Grants of Representation
• Understanding Accounting Procedures for Probate Transactions
How is the course delivered?
The course is delivered via blended learning, e learning, email support, each student has full support of personal tutors, all of whom hold professional legal qualifications and have been in practice.
By following the Apprenticeship route, learners will either need to present evidence of their achievement of GCSE Mathematics and English or an equivalent at a Grade C (new Grade 4 or above) or complete the Functional Skills at Level 2 in English, Mathematics during the Apprenticeship program duration. You must also work a minimum of 30 hours.
Employers must allow their staff 20% of the job training each week, this can be completing the course work, shadowing staff, completing CPD and general expanding their knowledge.

The first four units are assessed by extended essay/assignment. The final unit ‘Understanding Accounting Procedures for Conveyancing Transactions’ is assessed by exam.
Employers who are Levy payers there is no cost, if the employer is a none levy payer there is a £600 contribution for all students that are aged 22 and above.
The course can take up to 24 months to complete, including EPA (End Point Assessment).
