Powered Pallet Truck - Pedestrian operated (ITSSAR industrial group A1)
Course Overview
This one day course is designed to provide delegates with the appropriate knowledge to identify the hazards and dangers associated with a motorised pallet truck. Delegates will be taught how to safely operate the pallet truck in the workplace.
Who Should Attend
Any person who is required to use motorised pallet truck within the scope of any working activity they are employed to carry out.
Course Content
· Current Legislation – (HASAWA 1974/PUWER 1998/PPE Regulations 1992 (2002)/LOLER 1998)
· Introduction and explanations of the principles behind the pallet truck
· Identify the trucks capacity
· How to deal with pallet loads
· Correct loading
· Overloading
· Battery care and general maintenance
· Pre shift equipment check
· Practical Session
· Theoretical Assessment
Assessment methods: Practical and Theory consisting of multiple choice question paper.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course delegates will be able to:
· Have an understanding of the current legislation and guidance applicable to use of pallet trucks
· Be aware of the safe movement principles
· Know how to correctly load the truck
· Be aware of hazards associated with pallet truck operations
· Use the pallet truck without endangering themselves and others
· List the steps to take effective maintenance
